No Big Deal

I had an interesting conversation with some people at lunch today. They were all talking about how awful they think pornography is, like that’s the kind of thing sleazy people do. I told them I didn’t think there was anything wrong with it and all hell broke loose. I mean there was cussin’ and nasty looks at me. They were saying that it’s unfair to women. They said pornography leads to abuse and reduces human beings to objects. I guess they thought it “exploited” human beings and encouraged selfish behavior. What kind of over reaction is that? It’s not like these women aren’t getting paid to have photos taken of them. What’s so unfair? In my opinion, they are exploiting themselves. If anyone here is doing something wrong it’s them……… not me. Yeah ……………. that’s the truth. On occasion I partake in a little internet pornography. If a man (or a woman) wants to look at naked people what difference does it make? You feel good and get a little sexual release….. I think everyone does it.
And, by the way, I’m not sleazy. I am very successful for my age. I am likely going to graduate as our class valedictorian. I’m the captain of the basketball team and the best trombone player in our High School band. I have high goals for myself and I have no idea I will accomplish them. I push myself very hard and have a lot of success to show for it. At the end of a long day, when I know no one is around, I visit some of the sites I like. I don’t know what the big deal is. How could this be hurting anyone else? I’m alone, I’m single, the pictures are of women (and sometimes men) who are willing participants, so who’s getting hurt here? I can’t think of any way this is hurting people. I wish people would just lighten up. I’m not married, I don’t have a girlfriend, what’s the big deal?
